FAQ

What additional support is provided for me?

We have a whole bunch in the wellbeing document!
Have a look here: Wellbeing

Is there parking on campus?

In both Auckland and Wellington, Dev Academy does not have designated student parking.
We recommend using available public transport options instead, such as buses and/or trains or any of the following:

Auckland

  • On street paid parking (Parking near the domain is usually cheaper).
  • Download the Parkable app and book a park nearby.

Wellington

  • On street paid parking.
  • Previous students tend to park on streets like Ohiro Road/Aro St and walk in.

How do I get a Student ID card and tertiary concession?

Please apply for a student card as ID at https://studentcard.co.nz/, and see the notes per campus on applying for a tertiary concession.

Auckland
Unfortunately ATHOP has discontinued our eligibility to give students a transport tertiary concession. However you can still obtain other non transport related benefits by getting a student card from the link above.
If you have further questions, contact Rebecca Stitt:
rebecca.stitt@devacademy.co.nz

Wellington
Apply at https://www.snapper.co.nz/tertiary-concession/ for a transport tertiary concession (which you will only be eligible for after obtaining a student card first).
Then contact the campus manager with your name, cohort and student card number in order to be confirmed.
If you have further questions, contact Jack Tolley:
jack@devacademy.co.nz

How do I get in/out of campus after hours?

Auckland
The campus building is open between 8am and 5pm.
Access into campus outside those hours and on public holidays requires the use of a swipe card. Swipe cards are only issued to bootcamp students. They require a deposit which you get back when you return the swipe card.
If you would like a swipe key please contact the Auckland space manager when you are on bootcamp.

You can find a visual and written breakdown of the schedule on the

No, Dev Academy observes national and regional public holidays.

Will my qualification be displayed on my NZQA record of achievement?

Yes. You will recieve a level 6 NZQA certification, which will show up on your record of achievement and be displayed on your graduation certificate. You will have achieved 80 credits at level 6. We will continue to hold the credit record for you, and sometimes other tertiary places ask for this or more information about our course. If they do, always feel free to reach out on Discord or email us and we will get this information to you.

Can I apply for Summer of Tech?

Yes, Summer of Tech are familiar with Dev Academy and always welcome our grads into the programme. We do recommend signing up after you have graduated, though depending on your cohort date you may wish to sign up while studying. You can view their website.

What do I need to provide when applying for Summer of Tech?

When applying for SoT we will be listed under the educational institution dropdown. You can list "Level 6 Certificate in Applied Software Development" as your qualification. We may still be called "Enspiral Dev Academy" in their form.

For your academic record you can upload your certificate of graduation that you will have received from us via email (post graduation).
If you are currently studying and applying for SoT you can use your confirmation of study document instead, though you will still need to upload your graduation certificate once you have that.

Can I apply for the Github student developer pack?

Yes, though as we do not provide student email addresses you won't be able to apply through GitHub, instead contact one of your bootcamp facilitators and they will issue you a link to receive it.

Is Dev Academy an eligible school for windows 10 education?

No, we are not affiliated with Microsoft Education.

I have a question around Withdrawals
