Stretch
Foundations Stretch Material
You've come to the right place if you want a little more challenge-wise! If you've finished a challenge or sprint early, you could try out some of the challenges below.
Please note, stretch material is helpful but isn't necessary to move forward in this course. Don't focus on stretch competencies if you're just getting started. Come back to them when you have spare time - they're not a priority.
Stretch Suggestions
As mentioned, one sprint per week is the rhythm of this course. We ask you to take your time with the content and resist the urge to rush ahead. Here is a helpful list you can work through in tandem with sprint specific stretch challenges to extend your learning for the week.
General
- Help others by pairing or mentoring other students going through Foundations. You don't really know something until you can teach it! Offer assistance in the #foundations Discord channel.
- Refactor your code.
- Revise past sprints.
- Retry exercises and challenges. See if you can solve them in another way.
- Do a research deep dive on any unfamiliar topics you've come across - human skills or tech!
Sprint 2 onwards
- Refine your written reflections and blog posts. Clear communication of ideas and thoughts is key.
- Refactor your blog CSS and review your repo structure.
- Make your blog design responsive

Bonus Stretch
- Try more JavaScript kata! Keep practising and coding every day!
- CodeWars is a site full of kata of all different levels and languages. Join up with team Dev Academy to find some other folks making their way through the challenges too. It is a great one to use to keep sharpening those skills before you start Bootcamp, but do beware, the difficulty can ramp up pretty quickly, so don't get disheartened if you find it challenging.
- If you're in a more festive mood, the Advent of Code releases a new challenge every day in December. However, if it's not that time of year but you'd still like to give it a go, you can find their previous challenges on the events page of their website.
- Do more personal projects! Rebuild your blog! The possibilities are endless!
